SmartLynx airline has a new cooperation partnership with easyJet Airline starting 3rd of March 2017. This is the third aircraft SmartLynx has leased to EasyJet lately A320 aircraft with Latvian registration marks. The aircrafts have as operating base London Gatwick Airport, in the United Kingdom.
The airline is known for having other successful cooperations with Monarch and Aigle Azur airlines. On 15 February 2017 SmartLynx Airlines signed ACMI wet lease agreement with TUI Airlines Belgium N.V. trading as Jetairfly for two aircrafts A320 from March till October 2017. Both aircraft will start operating soon from a base in Brussels (BRU) Belgium, having a seating configuration of 180 Y economy. TUI Airlines Belgium is actually SmartLynx ACMI partner since 2016.
On 9 February 2017 SmartLynx Airlines Ltd. signed ACMI wet lease agreement with Thomas Cook Airlines for another two aircraft A320 that are going to operate from a base in Birmingham International Airport (BHX) and London Gatwick Airport (LGW), England starting from 29 April till 1 November 2017. Thomas Cook Airlines is known for having a long-term cooperation in SmartLynx since 2012.
Also on 30st of December 2016 SmartLynx signed ACMI wet lease agreement with Nova Airlines AB (Novair) for one aircraft Airbus 321 starting this month until April 2017. The home base of the aircraft will be Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) airport and it has a seating configuration of 220 Y economy.
On 25 November SmartLynx signed an agreement with Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, leasing to Norwegian two aircraft A320 between January-March 2017 with base in Copenhagen Airport (CPH).
Also recently SmartLynx Estonia ended an agreement signed on 20 October 2016 with Vietjet Aviation JSC. Two aircraft A320-232 were operating from Noi Bai International Airport (HAN), Vietnam, starting from January 2017. SmartLynx was already operating on the Vietnamese market since May 2016, after signing the ACMI damp lease agreement with Jetstar Pacific Airlines JSC for one A320 that was based in Ho Chi Minh Airport (SGN), Vietnam.
In 2017 SmartLynx Airlines is celebrating its 25th anniversary. It was founded in 1992 as a private airline with its headquarters being located in Riga and is specialized in full-service of Aircraft-Crew-Maintenance-Insurance and aircraft lease services. It also ensures full charter operation for its home markets in Latvia and Estonia and also performs flight crew training, providing type rating courses for Airbus A320 series. In 2017 airline’s fleet consists of 13 Airbus A320 aircraft and 1 Airbus 321 aircraft that ensure flights in Europe, Asia, and Africa. SmartLynx flight crew members represent more than 17 nationalities, speak multiple languages and overall the number of passengers transported by SmartLynx increased rapidly from 1.6 million in 2015 to 1.9 million in 2016. SmartLynx flight precision, On Time Performance indicator, reached last summer 89% of all charter flights.
