Undoubtedly I choose to see the world for free. I love flying and traveling the world. So I totally agree with the expression ”collect memories, not things”. I’ve always seen the cabin crew job as a unique one. When you find your passion for something, then you certainly see everything with new eyes. For me it’s enough to see a plane, to be surrounded by clouds and have goosebumps. That’s why for me everything is magic when I talk about aviation. It’s special…unique…amazing! This is me, Andreea, a 25-year-old girl from Galati. I have been working as a sales consultant and the best part of this job is that it is related to customer service, very important for any cabin crew, too. Working as a sales consultant means dealing with many characters and different mentalities every day. I can describe myself as a friendly, communicative and positive person and I truly believe that we are what we think. ”If you can dream it, you can do it”, said Walt Disney.

It all started on my first flight as a passenger; I knew right away that it was love at first sight. Besides the fact that I love flying and seeing the world from above the clouds, the moment when I first saw the flight attendants I immediately knew what I wanted to do, I discovered my ideal job. From that moment on, this dream started to grow inside of me. In 2015, I got my cabin crew European attestation, this being one great achievement for me.

Even though I knew there is more around and I want to thank my trainer, Nicoleta Gherman, who gave me all the information and support I needed in order to obtain a good result. The course held by World-class NG Cabin Crew trainer this year in June had a great influence on my achievement and I encourage everyone, who wants a career in aviation, to believe in her experience and knowledge. After this course, I realized how many new things I know and how much confidence I gained. She is definitely a good teacher and mentor, too; she knows how to combine theory and practice, giving all the necessary explanations. The course that I attended was a serious one, intensive but funny at the same time. I had interesting situations to solve, different samples of interviews with answers to review and exercise. The fact that I acquired so much new information made me more confident. Nicoleta is also a great motivator and very energetic, all these helping me become a strong candidate.

The interviews I have attended so far are not so different. The first step is always the CV drop, followed by an English test, which is not very difficult. The tests I took contained grammar exercises, some logical exercises, and an essay, too. After the written test, the recruiters invited each of us for the reach and grooming tests, but also to answer some questions. My question was my favorite cartoon character. After these tests, the recruiters made another selection. Everything happened so fast that I realized this only when they called us for the group test. We placed the chairs in a circle and we had to debate the subject of living abroad, giving pros and cons. Another selection took place, after which only 6 more remained (I was the only Romanian left). The recruiters presented us all the benefits and rules of Qatar Airways, I filled in a lot of forms and documents and without realizing I got to the final interview. This interview contained questions about my job, how I can handle different situations, what my weak and strong points are and the last time I was nervous. It seems like an easy interview, but when you are in front of the recruiting officer nothing is easy anymore. So you still have to prepare in advance if you want to feel sure of yourself, as every step has its own difficulty. In my case, the final interview was the most difficult one because I already felt very tired and I was very nervous. My first interview was a total failure because in my mind I knew everything but it turned out it wasn’t like that. So this motivated me and made me try again in Cluj-Napoca when again I failed the reach test (it was my mistake because I did not stay on tiptoes). I was a little bit disappointed but at the same time more motivated to attend another interview. After one month I decided to go to Sofia and I can say that it was my lucky day, as it was a successful one. This is my story and I can say I am very happy that in less than 48 hours I’m going to start a new life in Doha.

As I said before, every interview had a big influence on my life, gaining more and more experience; everything has a reason and nothing is impossible. Be confident no matter how hard it is, because big things deserve big efforts. Never give up even if you are disappointed with yourself. Smile as much as you breathe, be yourself and let the recruiters see all these. You must also be prepared with information about the company and properly dressed. The recruiters want to imagine how you look in a future cabin crew uniform, with perfect grooming and a good attitude, so it’s your responsibility to show them your qualities.

In my opinion, a good flight attendant should be positive, friendly, punctual, open to new ideas and able to work with multinational people. Proficiency in several languages is also very important because it is the first way to a good dialogue with your customers. I encourage all potential candidates to learn as many languages as possible and have the mindset of a cabin crew before attending an Open Day. Having experience in the customer care field will also help you a lot or at least you will know what actions to take when working with people. For me, customer service means care, respect, safety for your customers. Doing your best for your passengers is your first priority while working as a cabin crew.

Never give up on your dream, if you really love aviation. When the time comes, your dream will definitely become reality. Everything makes perfect sense at the right time and it’s only then when we understand this. Work hard and be confident if you want to get what you really want.
